The section is dedicated to the scientist Hermann Oberth (1894 - 1980), a German physicist originally from Romania (born in Sibiu), one of the founders of modern astronautics. As a child he was fascinated by Jules Verne's novel "From the Earth to the Moon". His thesis "Rocket in Planetary Space", now a famous book, dealt with the complicated problems of space flight 40 years before space flight became a reality. The section was inaugurated in 1994 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great scientist Hermann Oberth, pioneer of interplanetary flights and rocket technology. It is structured on three exhibition modules dedicated to Conrad Haas - the in...ventor of the first fuel-stage rocket, Hermann Oberth - father of space flights and Dumitru Dorin Prunariu - the first Romanian cosmonaut and includes a series of thematic exhibits such as: the cosmonaut training suit , models of the Buran space shuttle, V2 or Saturn V rockets. Documentary films related to the history of the conquest of outer space are shown in the audio-video room.
