The University History Museum was established at the initiative of the Rectorate of Babeş-Bolyai University in January 2001 and opened to the public since June 2001. Since 2007, it has been operating in the premises on Mihail Kogălniceanu Street, no. 4. Its mission is to present the academic tradition of our institution to the UBB community, the people of Cluj and all Romanian and foreign guests who cross its threshold, offering a synthetic perspective on what Cluj university life means from the 16th century to the present, as well as information about the local cultural history of Transylvania. The museum's collections, consisting of a wide variety of original pieces and facsimi...les (student notebooks, yearbooks, university textbooks, documents, diplomas, postcards, photographs, various scientific apparatus, medals, etc.) exemplify the teaching and research activity of university students and professors of yesterday and today. The exhibition halls reconstruct the evolution of all the academic structures (colleges, faculties, institutes, universities) that preceded the current university, as well as many aspects of the activity of Babeş-Bolyai University. The exhibits are grouped into several sections, respecting chronological and thematic criteria.
