With the completion of the rehabilitation works of the building bodies in the Oradea citadel, in 2016 the Oradea Citadel and City Museum was opened, and in 2018 the Oradea City Museum - Cultural Complex, a museum institution with legal personality, was established in 2018 his Jewish History Museum in Oradea and the Darvas-La Roche House – the Art Nouveau Museum. Considering the uniqueness of the historical monument in which the museum is organized, several exhibitions dedicated to the history of the fortress (with the three phases of construction, respectively Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance), of the monastery church, the Romanesque and Gothic cathedrals, the palace Renaissance prin...ce. In 2021, the Oradea City Museum – Museum Complex was dissolved and became a section of the Oradea Crişurilor Museum – Museum Complex, under the name Oradea City Museum. In 2024, the reorganization of the permanent exhibition of the Oradea City Museum took place, which was carried out according to the current standards in the field of museum technology, with the aim of reflecting the collective memory in an objective manner. The exhibitions, organized chronologically, are designed to function both individually and together as spaces of education, culturalization and recreation for the various categories of the public. Visitors will be able to explore key landmarks of the rich history of the city and fortress of Oradea, from prehistoric times to the modern period, including presentations of the lives of kings Ladislaus I the Holy (1077-1095) and Sigismund of Luxembourg, King-Emperor (1387-1437 ), the rooms dedicated to prehistory, ancient history and the period of migrations, the great Mongol invasion, Humanism and the Renaissance, the periods of Ottoman and Habsburg influence, the development of pharmaceutical life, the First World War and General Traian Moşoiu, but also those dedicated to the approach to urban space, leisure, life cultural, education, daily life during the communist regime, the discotheques of the years 1970-1989, the history of firefighters, the memory of anti-communist or anti-fascist fighters, the history of photography and Oradea bishoprics.
