The "Constantin Brâncusi" National Museum was established by Law no. 199/2015 and is based in the "Barbu Gănescu" House, a building where Constantin Brâncuşi was housed, during the period in which he worked on the "Calea Eroilor" Monumental Ensemble from Târgu Jiu (1937-1938). In the courtyard of the institution there are two monuments that bear the imprint of the great sculptor: "Stone tables arranged by Constantin Brâncusi", also known as "Garden with stone creatures", located on the List of Historical Monuments with Code LMI GJ-III-m-B-09470 and the "Round Table" with LMI Code GJ-III-m-A-09465.06, a ...scrap table, made by the sculptor but later discarded by the artist. The "Constantin Brâncusi" National Museum was opened to the public for the first time on February 19, 2020, on Constantin Brâncusi National Day. The institution's objectives are to promote and bring to the public's attention the life and work of the sculptor Constantin Brâncuşi with an emphasis on the period when the great artist lived and worked in Gorj county. Also, among the proposed objectives is that of creating a virtual exhibition that brings together all of Constantin Brâncuşi's works, recreating, at the same time, the atmosphere of the artist's workshop, through digital images. The acquisition of documents, documentary objects, works for the Museum's collection, but also the creation of a section of museum pedagogy activities for children and youth with the aim of stimulating their creativity are other projects that we intend to complete.
