The Museum of Paleontology-Stratigraphy holds over 50,000 samples consisting of fossils and rocks. These are organized according to the area of provenance, geological age and specific taxonomic criteria, in several distinct collections: the Paleontology Taxonomic Collection, the Transylvanian Basin Collection, the Type Collection, the Stratigraphy Collection and the Outdoor Collection. Through its rich collection of fossils, the Museum of Paleontology-Stratigraphy represents, by tradition, a didactic and scientific reference base in the field of natural sciences, playing an important role in the professional training and specialization process of naturalist students, teachers a...nd researchers. The presentation of the permanent collection, the temporary exhibitions and the educational programs organized within the museum are directions through which the Museum of Paleontology and Stratigraphy also wishes to support the civic dimension, pro-society. Organizing cultural-educational events or activities for the community is important both for promoting geology as a science and for promoting the museum's heritage.
