The Virtual and Documentary Museum of the Holocaust of Northern Transylvania was founded to commemorate, document and educate about the Holocaust of the Jews in the counties of northern Romania, ceded to Hungary after the Vienna Dictate of 1940. The museum aims to offer a unique museum experience that preserves the memory of the Holocaust and, at the same time, to inform and educate visitors about the history and culture of the Jews of northern Transylvania and the events that marked their deportation and extermination during the years of World War II. The specificity of this museum lies in the fact that it offers visitors, in addition to direct interaction with artifacts that testify to th...e Holocaust of the Jews, viewing the testimonies of survivors and the possibility of accessing online collections. The Holocaust Museum aims to pursue its central mission of recovering, preserving and transmitting the memory of the Holocaust as part of local, regional and national history. To achieve this goal, the museum aims to enrich its collections with artifacts related to the history of Transylvanian Jews, deepen academic research on the history of the Holocaust, and become more dynamic in the life of the UBB and Cluj community. Our museum is open to the general public, especially addressing the younger generation of pupils and students, the local Cluj community, as well as the descendants of Holocaust survivors interested in the history of their families. The museum offers lectures on topics related to the Holocaust, the history and culture of Jews in northern Transylvania, at the museum or in schools, on the occasion of Holocaust commemorative days. The Documentary Museum contains the following collections: the Avraham/Erwin Ohlbaum Collection, the Prof. Univ. Dr. Vasile Bogdan Collection, the Lusztig Collection, and the Interwar Book Collection. The Virtual Museum contains the following collections that can be accessed online: the Avraham/Erwin Ohlbaum Collection, the Prof. Univ. Dr. Vasile Bogdan Collection, the Ellenzék Collection, and the Lusztig Collection.
