Founded in 1859, as a section of the Transylvanian Museum, the Zoological Museum of Babeş-Bolyai University is one of the most impressive specialized museums in Romania, housing some of the oldest collections in southeastern Europe. On an area of 700 m², the public has the opportunity to encounter a large part of the animal species of the Romanian fauna, as well as many species originating from different corners of the world. The museum also features thematic dioramas that capture the behavioral aspects and living environment of different species or curiosities related to them. The Zoological Museum also serves as a material basis for study for middle school and... high school students. Through its organization, it offers the possibility of conducting thematic biology lessons and is a place of study for students of specialized faculties. Due to its complexity, the museum is visited annually by groups of students, pupils and researchers, who have the opportunity to perfect their knowledge of the animal world.
